Dental Crowns in Inglewood
Dental crowns are a highly versatile treatment. They can be used for cosmetic purposes, such as covering up irregularly shaped teeth, but they can also be used to improve oral health by protecting vulnerable teeth. Crowns can be temporary or permanent and can either blend in with or stand out from your teeth. They are extremely common and useful, and our dentists at Inglewood are excellent at treating your dental health issues with crowns.
Types of Crowns
Different types of crowns are usually just made out of different materials, but they can have different purposes and effects. Some common materials are metal, resin, porcelain, and other ceramics. Porcelain and ceramic crowns are excellent for colour matching and can blend in with natural teeth extremely well. Metal crowns are extremely durable but are more visible as they cannot be colour matched to your natural teeth.
Placing a Crown
Before a crown is placed, your dentist will fill in any gaps or irregular shapes with a filling substance so that the crown will fit. Then an impression will be made in order to create a custom crown. Temporary crowns can be used to protect the teeth during this process. When the crown arrives, the dentist will numb your mouth before fitting the crown over your whole tooth.
